Creating Global Standards for the Bioeconomy

INCCert develops certification frameworks needed to bring emerging natural commodities into global supply chains. Our standards establish clear requirements for responsible production, traceability, and chain of custody, with compliance independently verified by internationally recognized certification bodies. By connecting responsible sourcing practices with credible third-party assurance, INCCert helps producers, manufacturers, and brands build transparent supply chains, substantiate sustainability claims, and confidently scale the use of bio-based materials.

In 2024, INCCert launched the Responsible Hemp Standard (RHS), a pioneering global certification program for responsibly produced and traceable industrial hemp. Covering applications from textiles and nonwovens to construction materials, food, and other industrial uses, RHS establishes a common benchmark for responsible hemp production and chain-of-custody verification. Independent audits conducted by Control Union, together with transaction-level traceability, provide the accountability and assurance needed to support responsible sourcing, credible claims, and greater commercial adoption.

Building on RHS, INCCert is expanding its standards framework through the Responsible Bast Standard (RBS), encompassing hemp, flax, and linen. RBS creates a harmonized approach to responsible sourcing and traceability across these complementary natural fibers, supporting their integration into established textile and industrial supply chains.

INCCert is also developing the Responsible Cannabis Standard (RCS) to bring greater consistency, transparency, and independent verification to regulated cannabis supply chains. RCS is designed to establish clear requirements for responsible cultivation, processing, traceability, and operational practices, providing a credible framework for producers, processors, regulators, and commercial partners.
